WHM: Level 50 gear, priorities?

Hi all,

There's another thread on here about WHM Darklight gear, but the thread confused me a little, coming down to a fight between DL Body vs Vanya Robe of Healing. But comments made in the thread about "only some pieces of DL are worth it" and such made me scratch my head and wonder...

So I'm actually new to gearing at 50. I hit 50 2 weeks ago, but real life caught up, so I've only managed to fit in many runs of Ifrit HM and a small handful of AK runs. I have very little to show from these runs, but I am accumulating tomes (even if no loot drops).

So now I ask.. what is suggested for my gear priority? Which DL pieces are considered better, while which slots are AK good enough. While DL seems to have higher ilvl, it seems that it's not always better? I don't seem to understand itemization enough either to understand how to rate WHM gear yet...

In my opinion, because of the price of Vanya pieces, you might as well just go and get the DL gear and gradually replace it with mythology/allagan gear (iLvl 90).

Depending on what your priorities are, you might as well just get all DL gear except for the robe/head, get that as mythology instead. That is, unless you prefer getting Relic+1 first. Some people consider that extra healing power more important than defense and what not. If you prefer the extra boost in your heal and go for the relic +1, then get the DL robe as well.

Thing is, at level 50, all the dungeons give you philosophy and you'll easily get all the DL gear pretty fast so unless you are specifically getting a certain myhtology piece then you should just go ahead and max out your DL gear. You can do all the content with full DL gear so there's no point in wasting your money on anything else.

Any opinion on which should I take, DL cowl of healing or Strategos head + chest? I lose a bit of stats but I get spell speed over determination.

I would say if you had to choose between SS and Det, though I think both stats are fairly useless and tied for the bottom of stat priority, SS would have a bit more benefit than Det.

The order of priorities I like to use is Mind - Piety/Crit (preference argument can be made for both) - Vitality - SS - Det. Now hoping some people on here tear this apart and I can learn something new.

Stat priority is a big thing I don't quiet know yet myself. Obviously, it's a big decider on what piece is better than another, and it's because I don't get it that I can't decide what to pick when it comes to DL vs Strategos.

Question to WHMs that have been doing all the content -- is MP an issue? Piety obviously gives you that larger MP pool, but is it necessary?

MP can be an issue depending on playstyle, party injuries, and if a Bard is present.

E.g. if you're weaving damage while keeping everyone alive, your MP is going drain around the second Shroud of Saints.
If you've needed to Raise anyone during combat, that will be a hit to the MP.
If you've needed to resort to Cure II to help folks bounce back from an avoidable attack (or more than one Medica/Medica II).
