Game boots up like initial start-up every time I start

Since yesterday, every time I start up the game I have to reconfigure all of my graphical and system settings. Then instead of being able to select my character and play the game, I'm forced to sit through the opening sequence. This just started yesterday and I'm really lost as to what could have started the problem.

Look for your FFXIV.cfg file, (usually here C:\Users\YOURACCOUNTNAME\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn) change CutsceneMovieOpening from 0 to 1.

the FFXIV_Boot.cgf file also has lines for things like region, language, etc. Make sure they are populated with values as well. Here's an example:

If for some reason these values are not getting stored, there may be a security issue. If you aren't running as Admin, right-click your shortcut and select to Run as Administrator to see if that resolves it. If so, you can set this option in the shortcut's properties so you don't have to keep right-clicking it.

You can also hit ESC i think to shut the scene up.

You can't if the game is treating the boot as a first time start-up.
