WAR/MRD DPS Abilities/Rotation?

So I noticed I had a full set of DRG AK armor/accessories. I remember seeing posts about a WAR/MRD DPSing HM Garuda since pre Relic and AF2 armor we can actually keep up with DPS since we can wear roughly the same gear. I was wondering what abilities to use and what rotation to follow? I would probably go back to MRD for Blood for Blood/Raging Strike, but beyond that I'm not sure, grab other classes DoTs possibly and stack them? Any help would be great thanks!

Btw this is just for fun when my FC needs a DPS for hydra or something.

You can't get any DPS skills off class as a WAR other than Internal Release.

As an MRD you would have acces to:

Straight Shot
Raging Strikes
Blood for blood
Invigorate (if necessary)
And Quelling Strikes (which would be necessary if you were going for max DPS using Butcher's Block combo)

Honestly, if you've got Bravura it may not be worth it to switch to MRD given you would lose a decent chunk of weapon damage and primary stats. And leveling to lnc 34 just to get blood for blood would be a little excessive.

As a MRD dps you would basically be trying to roll as many buffs as you could. The biggest thing you would get from off-class would be Straight Shot. Rotation would change to something like:

Straight Shot -> Heavy Swing -> Maim -> Storm's Eye -> Fracture -> Heavy Swing -> Maim -> Storm's Eye -> Straight shot

You could potentially work in some butcher's Block combos in there if you had quelling strikes, but the probability of pulling aggro would be pretty high I think.

Interesting I wondered if Straight Shot would be worth it, I read a rather lengthy post about LNC/DRG DPS that since it has such a low potency and only gives 10% crit it wasn't worth the GCD. Maim/SE is only 10 potency less each per attack so wouldn't be terrible to spam and who the hell decided to give us a trait to increase main to 24s but SE only lasts 15s? And just to make sure I understand correctly by roll you mean use one after the other for DPS CDs? So like Raging Strikes, right as it wears off Internal Release, then after that wears off blood for blood, then Berserk?

By roll I basically meant keep them all on cooldown as much as possible. But this game is honestly a little weird. The buffs above all stack multiplicatively, essentially, which mean's it's better to have them all active at the same time. But since they have ~1 second cast time it's better to do something like Heavy Swing -> Raging Strikes -> Maim -> Internal Release -> Storm's Path -> Blood for Blood, so you aren't wasting as much time stacking buffs (once you stack 3 without using a cooldown attack you are losing a significant amount of buff time on the first one you cast.

I don't know about dragoons, and really I haven't done the math, but I'm fairly sure 70 tp cost for 10% crit buff and a 140 potency attack is going to come out pretty good for a MRD/WAR. It's not as good as maim, but it's still good. Just as an estimation method, the average potency of your maim combo is ~203. So if the 10% bonus to crit is > the difference (60 potency) over a 20 second duration it would be worth using.

Approximating 10% crit as 5% damage, in 20 seconds you get 7 globals (one is take up by the straight shot skill). Ignoring Fracture for now, 7*203 = 1421 potency worth of attacks. You also get ~83 potency worth of auto attacks per 2.5 seconds, and for these you can count the 2.5 seconds after straight shot, so 8*83 = 664. Adding those you have ~2085 potency worth of attacks going out in that time frame. And 5% increased damage is going to be ~104.2 additional potency, which is greater than the 60 potency deficit between the average maim combo hit and straight shot.

This is mostly an estimation method, but based on that I would say it's worth using if you're going MRD.

With that said, I'm still not convinced it would be worth going MRD and losing access to Bravura.

P.S. yes I think improved maim has a very marginal usefulness due to the duration of Storm's Eye.
