Why does the Overmeld system work like a F2P game rather than a sub?

8% chance to meld the final materia slot? Why is the Overmeld system as RNG heavy as a F2P game? Is Square going to open up a cash shop with items that increase the success rate? Seriously.

they probably wont. doing that will sure fire cause them to lose a ton of subs. a small % of people will stand to play games with stuff like that.

it's not like a F2P game at all. If it were F2P the item would blow up if you failed.

It did that in 1.x, you know.

Why is forbidden melding still in this game at all ? it unnecessary IMO.

Most items have stupid caps on them so its not like you can max you main stats, may as well not bother and go with dungeon/tome gear instead.

why are you complaining? In 1.0 the entire item would blow up and be lost if you failed. People spent over a million gil trying to get the gambler's crown with the cheapest possible items. I got the crown last night for less than 4k

They aren't adding ways to increase the chance. It's supposed to be a risk for extra stats, that's all.

That final meld can be the difference between an excellent piece of gear and an exceptional piece of gear. It should not be easy to do, especially for the higher level materias! For some people it's worth the risk, for others it's not. That's for each individual to decide.

Oh, and as a misc. FYI, it goes as low as 4% when melding a IV onto four previous IVs. :)

The last question was a sarcastic rhetoric. I'm not asking for ways to increase the % chance. I'm asking why the system works like a F2P game.

Materia is meant to take items off the market (or at least, this was before stuff would bind to characters). Harsher melding conditions regulates materia.
