I tried several times to register my credit card thinking I had just punched in a number wrong and got the 601 error so many other people have. Also gave it a go after disabling adblock etc.
Only now realised that for every error I've been charged $1.44AUD (1 euro? :confused:). I've sent SE a support email to get these charges reversed but if I get nowhere in the next 2 days I'll be disputing the charges through my bank.
I suggest everyone else who got the error 601 when trying to pay with a credit card check recent transactions with your bank or CC institution.
This is absolute bullshit. They won't accept payment for FFXIV but they are happy to charge me fees for THEIR error?:mad:

I was charged for crysta, I never got the crysta and they haven't returned my money yet, and to make it worse, now every card I use id out right declined without any errors when using paypal/ultimate.
Why do we have to jump through hoops to give SE money? -

The small charge that appears on you bank/card statement every time you attempt to purchase won't clear. It will pend for a few days, and then disappear. No need to get all upset, your bank wouldn't even let you dispute something that hasn't actually posted to your account anyway.

Its not fraud and a common practice by many companies i and many have dealt with i the past when your setting up a CC on their system. SWtor does it every time my 3 month sub comes up to check if my CC is still active..Its NORMAL.
OP instead of accusing the company of "fraud" and "stealing your money etc etc etc..learn what fraud is next time ask why they charged you a single euro instead of assuming it was for some nefarious reason...

I got a $1.03 charge yesterday for the same thing when i set up my recurring sub as well...TBH if they didnt do it i would have been more surprised.
That charge showed up on your CC statement because your card is now setup successfully and will be charged the sub fee when its time...if you ask for that 1 euro to be refunded because you're not willing to try and understand the process before making accusations do not be surprised if your recurring Sub you signed up for doesn't work when you want it to because you just instructed them to refund a legitimate charge as if they did something wrong. -

Oh and as for trying to contact SE for clarification on the charges.. all I can say is have you tried their chat or phone support? It goes nowhere. -

Everybody that is upset over the $1 charges, please calm down. I worked in the banking field for 3 years. The $1 charge is a "soft" charge, not a service fee. The $1 charge is how the financial system 1) confirms your card is functional, 2) confirms money is there 3) often cross checks billing address to verify it's you. The scary and more important question is: Will you get the full subscription charge for each of those $1 "soft" posts.
EDIT: Oh yea, generally the $1 charge drops off when the full transaction comes through.
