Start your Paladin quest line - it gives decent EXP! I still use GLA for certain dungeons and FATEs but in a few more levels I will likey begin using the PLD crystal full-time.
Choosing to be a PLD at 30 does not mean you stop being a GLD. Once you become a "PLD" you will still be a GLD, and they both lvl together.
It's not the same as XI, so when you become a PLD, you don't become a lvl 1 PLD, you become whatever lvl PLD your GLD is.
I agree. Although I'm neither of these. At 30 I started my Bard quest line but I changed back to archer as it had Cure and Raise as sub-actions. Bard does not have these so I stayed archer till my gear could take a hit. Back to you though. I would certainly start your Paladin but if you wish to use sub-actions for a bit longer then feel free to switch back and forth.
As others have said, I would unlock Paladin.
Until level 40, Gladiator is probably better at tanking. You lose some vitality, but gain a lot of useful abilities from LNC, PUG, etc. When you get shield oath, PLD is a much better tank. Note, if you don't have the dodge/heal and parry skills from lnc and pug, I'd just go with PLD at 30 for the higher stats.
i had been use PLD since i hit 30.
tbh, i did found much different between staying GLA or change to PLD.
the extra skill u got from being GLA is nice.
then again i never had any problem taking pre-40 using PLD. ^^
P.S. Sword Oath is pretty nice DPS boost.
With my MRD, I usually use the MRD when I'm questing as it gives me a few more survivability options and dmg buffs, but if I get to something either I know is going to be a little tougher, or if I'm tanking in a group i'm always switch to Warrior
