Coil of Bahamut - PUG with benefits?

Hey folks, a friend of mine and I are looking to get a group together for Coil tonight. 7 PM EST is our target start time.

We have a few others in our FC who aren't quite ready to take a crack at it this week, but we'd really like to get in there. Of course, meeting some other like minded endgame seekers would be a plus, but our main goal is really to get in there and do some content!

I've done some research on the fights, and we have a Vent server available for use (or are happy to use another medium), so there's no reason we can't get this done with some reasonable folks.

We're both decently geared (BRD+SCH), looking for others of like mind and ability to check out the Coil. Please contact myself or Slathe Coronach in game or via this post with any questions.

Note that we're equally happy to join your FC run if you need a healer/DPS to fill out your raid this week, but we thought there might be others in a similar situation to us, and figured we'd throw up a sign!

Our PUG had a successful first run - we managed to clear Turn 1! We'll be continuing on from there later this week.

I am a decently geared DRG but I will admit that I haven't looked into the Coil too much since I am focusing on getting HM Titan down. I have grouped with you two before (Slathe and Per Anon) for like AK or something if you guys recall. This sounds interesting to me and I think I want to participate if your runs fit the time I have available. Please look my character up on the Lodestone and check out my gear so that when I contact you ingame you will be able to tell me if you feel I have sufficient gear or not. Thanks!

I'd like to make a little statement about gear and tips when entering Binding Coils of Bahamut for anyone who's interested. These boss fights will push your character's class to the limit and the most beneficial item to have when starting Coil will be your relic weapon. The relic weapons increase your stats the most when comparing every other item that is obtainable at the moment. So that's your biggest target to start Coil. Of course, Darklight gear is very beneficial to have when starting Coil for the first boss. However, it's not 100% needed, if you're highly skilled with your class and you know the proper rotations for your character you can easily get through the first and second bosses.

Once you've received your first 900 Mythology tomestones it's important to upgrade your relic to +1. Once again it holds the highest increase in stats in comparison to all other gear available. By the time you complete turn 2 you're going to want to be completely geared in full Darklight (or 1-2 jewelry pieces off). Overall when comparing a healer for example (I'm a White Mage) who's in full Darklight to my healer who at the time only had 3 pieces of Darklight. The difference between the two aren't that noticeable The full Darklight White Mage for example will only heal for ~50 more on Cure I and roughly 100-150 more on Cure II. Making the differences between gear very subtle.

Of course like I've said before, it all comes down to knowing your class. You must learn your class for these fights. Otherwise, you're wasting not only your time but your groups time with constant wipes. Understand what skill(s) to cast and when to cast them. Understand how many times you can proc your cooldowns during a fight so that you can receive them sooner at later portions of the boss fights. Above all else, your positioning really matters as well. If you're not in the proper locations for a fight or you don't move out of a specific area in time it could easily mean a wipe for your team. Even if you're the only person that dies from the aoe; dying in Binding Coils of Bahamut is essentially a wipe for your team. No one is allowed to die for these fights due to the amount of focus the healers have to exert while healing the proper players.

Finally stay calm and take it easy. These fights aren't meant to be rushed. Practice makes perfect, at first you might think that there's no way to conserve your energy pools however, once you calm down and grasp the mechanics you'll know how much force to exert and when to exert it. Anyways, that's all I have to say and good luck to all of those who are taking their first steps into the Binding Coils of Bahamut.
