I'm trying to help a fellow guild find a shield pre-titan so he can have it up to date since he's been stuck with his lvl 44 shield for quite a long time. I was wondering does anyone know where he can find a pretty good upgrade since we've had no luck getting any drops for him at all for an upgrade able shield?
I think a shield can drop from the last boss in the Wanderer palace.

I just got mine today after around 35 runs. I had the pink shield from level 35 dungeon for a long time, then I upgraded to the Grand Company shield. Today I finally own Darklight!! Woot!
Yeah, sadly the Darklight Kite Shield from the Tonberry King in Wanderer's Palace is literally the ONLY viable shield between the level 44 greens (of which there's several choices I think) and the Titan Hardmode shield. And likely when you down Titan Hardmode you'll probably get your Relic Shield immediately anyway.
Just have to keep running WP until you get lucky. There's not -that- much difference between the 44 greens and the WP one but it's definitely worth aiming at.
IIRC, the Kite Shield progression was Canopous Shield from Aurum Vale final boss, Darklight Kite Shield from Wanderer's Palace final boss, and then Titan's Shield (Shield of the Crags? I forget). For someone maining PLD though, no reason to not be getting relic shortly after Titan kill though. IMHO, Titan weapons are meant for someone's alt who does not want to do relic for it.
Like everyone said, aiming for the Darklight Kite Shield is his best bet while you gear yourselves for Titan HM. After that, Holy Shield for your friend :)
