Achievement DoH/DoL Main-Hand Rewards should have higher stats

As it is right now, these items aren't even worth working towards. They are not something you will automatically get either without putting some hard work and/or a lot of gil into either.

I feel that these items should have a little higher stats than the level 50 quest rewards so it would be worth working towards instead of just being yet more vanity slot items.


As a crafter in general there is not much stuff to do besides trying to make money, so i feel that having a feed like this for a slightly better item would be a nice addition to your arsenal.


Any thoughts on this?

These items' purpose is for showing off your achievement (hence achievement reward). Will be used by players much more often when vanity gear slots is released.

In other words, they are not items to work towards for, but items to show that you worked!

The thing I have a problem with is a skill costing 400 GP and only lasting for one gathering site when you only have just under 500 GP. They need to rethink the cost of the GP on some of the skills and also the XP to level up the jobs is crazy, if I didn't save my leves for gathering and crafting it would take me forever to level up.

Also I have looked around for a good guide, has anyone found anything decent?

I agree that it should be to show off your hard work. But in most cases people won't work towards it. A stat increase of 2-5 in each stat would definately feel much better when you obtain it.

That line doesn't make any sense. Razzle is saying that it's a sign of achievement. A trophy. Something that shows what you've accomplished. Making something a requirement is contradictory to the whole point of a trophy/achievement.

Rauni you get from completing the guild quest. The luminary you get from just harvesting everywhere possible. Notice how they both have the SAME STATS? So you would have gotten the same tool eventually no matter what you do. No one's making you do the quests. There's no content being barred if you don't do it. It's just a storyline for gatherer's. And if people don't want to do it. That's fine. I personally did the quests because I wanted to find out what happens to Fufucha (my favorite npc lalafell next to Tataru).

I got my Axe of the Luminary in version 1, it was the best MH tool for botanist then. Took me months to get. Just made it to the lv 50 BTN quest and I see that Rauni has the same stats. Can't express how upsetting this is. Looked up crafting tools and noticed that the lv 50 quest now gives the same stats as something that some of us worked long and hard to get because they were the best. Now imagine working for months to get your Allagan or AF+1 (2) gear and then in the next patch something with the same exact stats is given by a simple quest reward.
I hate this a lot more than the 1k character limit allows me to express.

If everything in the game remained the best the time you got it then future content and expansions would serve no purpose for you.

This is why you shouldn't play a game that clearly isn't revolving around min-maxing, as a min-max game. If you want to play a min-max game, visit League of Legends or Path of Exile; those hand out formulas for the stats so that the players can min-max.

I agree with OP. The stats on the luminary tools should obviously be a little better than what you can craft/buy.
That also gives us some more motivation for working towards the achievements, to get something special for all your work.
There's gear you only get by raiding a lot which is superior to everything, which is why it should be the same for crafting.

They could at least make the achievement reward be Best in Slot off hand tools? I don't understand why the Luminary tools and the achievements exist when you can power a craft to 50 in 1 day using leves, then do a quest and get the EXACT same stats. Compared to weeks of mind numbing grinding.

I'd much rather there not be a reward for the achievement. Crafting already has very little sense of accomplishment and purpose, so I thought that getting these tools could substitute for that. It would be something worthy of accomplishing and people saying "Grats!" and mean it rather than the token grats. Instead, now you can focus on getting them for 1 class a,d after weeks get it and announce it and the reaction will be "...Why did you bother? In the time you spent I got 5 classes to 50 with the same quality tools."
