Gil seller shout solution for SE

I have now disabled the shout and yell feature in the game as I'm sick of black listing Gil sellers with their constant spam in the shout and yells. A solution to this for SE is to get a GM logged in to every city and stand there for a day and ban the accounts that they see making the Gil shouts it saves everyone having to constantly black list every second as the spam has gotten ridiculous now that you can't even see anything important being said.

Please SE hurray and fix this my blacklist is nearing full now.

Good luck convincing the corporate bean counters to cough up the $10/hour or whatever a GM makes for someone (probably multiple people) to sit around and moderate the chat channels. The woefully inadequate server infrastructure at launch was a pretty clear indication of how tight their wallets are when it comes to ensuring quality of service.

Yeah 35 servers, three major cities, at $10/hour will only cost $24,000 per day.

Automated spam filtering techniques exist and are much cheaper to implement.

Yeah I guess if they had GMs just doing that 24/7 that's a lot of money. Say it was $10 an hour x 24 = $240 per day (if they wanted to keep it 24/7, otherwise gil sellers would just jump on at "off-peak" times), that's $87,600 per year. 53 servers in total so that's a total of $4,642,800 per year for a GM to cover each server. That said I guess they could have GMs cover multiple servers and do multiple tasks as well as ban gil sellers, surely can't take more than a few seconds to ban em off the server then get back to their day job. Even just a quick sweep of the main towns every hour or so.

OR they could just use an algorithm that detects common things goldsellers would do and silence them. Like people spamming the same comment over and over just have their ability to shout and PM automatically removed.

I bet they could combine all the shout chat logs in all the cities on all the servers into one administrative shout data feed, then have one or two guys watching it.
