This is super annoying in a fate, stupid summoner avatars take the highest priority when hitting X to select a tadget. It's unbelievable how often it selects an ifrit summon that isnt even on my screen rather than the largr mob threat right in front of me! This is broken imo, and yes I have changed my filters. Why would any player character actually want to select an avatar?
You can turn this off your self somewhere in options...i never even target pets unless i press F12. But i did this at the start of the game and don't remember exactly where to go.
Isn't it Character Config > Controls > Filters? I'm not sure of the specific option but I think you need to uncheck 'Enable target cycling' and instead use the filters below. For some reason that stopped me having the above issue.

Make it so pets and companions of others become un-targetable.
There are filters listed for pets and minions...they just appear not to work at all. I only have enemies/aggro enemies enabled, yet I still have to cycle through every pet (and minion, and chocobo) on the screen. It seems as if they're considered NPCs, and not in a class by themselves.
