You guys need to make it to where if the materia doesn't give you stats we shouldn't be able to put it on. I worked for hrs to make armor and I put in materia and relized that it didnt give me any stats so now the armor is junk.

You can remove the materia

How do you remove it without destroying the gear?

It does warn you before you give the final confirmation to meld the materia. Highlights the reduced bonus in red and everything.

Slightly related but not really. What is an acceptable tip amount for melding a level IV materia to an iLVL70 weapon?

In 1.x, removing materia meant that *all* the materia on the item was removed and destroyed. I don't know if that's still the case.

iirc, it's still the case.

I put 4 +1 Int materia into a HQ Cotton Cowl each having a 100% melding rate. All four give +0 Int. It is the required item level the materia required so I'm not understanding why each is +0 Int.

Most likely because it's limited how much each peace of gear can increase each stat in total .. What is the +Int stat on that Cowl by default?
