Gathering attempts

What stat determines the number of gathering attempts at a given node? Gathering, GP, perception or something else?

I believe it's Strength. You can see it when you come across a +1 gathering node

That's what I was thinking, but I don't want to spend the gil to experiment.

It will tell you STR / DEX / MND > 000 = +1 gathering attempt
