Hello Dev's, and SE people. (if you guys even view the New Player Forums)
How much would it affect player accounts if you guys were to make Key-Generator's such as the Digipass Required for Accounts? Is this something you can do?
I know its not going to stop people from being idiots and going to the RMT's websites (and then getting their accounts stolen). But it would cut down on the number of stolen accounts, which would cut down on the RMT spam as 90% of the Names I report every day (or every few hours if i want to be honest about it) are those of stolen accounts. (i can tell their stolen ones as the names are not simple random letters thrown together in 5 seconds)
The RMT Asshats are in the game to 'make' money, if they have to keep spending 50$ (or however much the game costs now) in order to spam away, they wont be so fast to spam people mass-market wise.
The reason we see so many lately is because they are getting accounts to use (and get banned) for 'free' by stealing them from the idiots that go to their websites.
If you REQUIRED all accounts to have 'some type' of Digipass, either the official one, or even the Google one (or any of the free ones), this might cut down on how many 'free' accounts the RMT asshats can use to spam us with.
Just a thought, And I wonder why none of the MMO's out today Require these yet.. its not like their expensive to get (the google one is FREE!), and its an added security feature not a hindrance.
How about you players?... Think this is something that should be required on accounts? Anyone else feel as i do and think requiring digi-passes are long-overdue? Some free-to-play games require 'pin-numbers' (such as Aion and a few of the Perfect World Entertainment games), but these are nothing more than extra passwords, they dont 'change' randomly like the Digi-passes do.

The problem with that is the same reason a lot of MMO's don't do it.
People
People will whine and complain all day about bots but the moment you make logging in take longer, the complain worse then when they were angry about the bots.
I know its stupid. But the moment you make a online pass key mandatory, people act like you just asked them to remove their arm. I use the code generator app they suggest. Works just fine. If you choose NOT to use it, it your own fault if you get hacked. -

If not that generator, people should have phones with text messaging now. They can do the password through their cellphones easily enough. I did that and my keychain is just a decoration because of that but at least my account is safe :p
It's effective because you have to generate the temp password each time you install and/or access the game on a different computer. So even if someone that had hacked the account tried to activate it, if it was tied to your phone, you would get a text about it and not the RMT crew that had hacked your account. Sadly most people are too lazy to go through with this...their own fault if they get hacked and banned. Because there's a free (or really cheap depending on phone plan) alternative to the keychains. -

Some do not have a smart phone. I am one of those people. I don't need one. An extra 10 bucks for some being mandatory for the key fob thing would make people think twice about the game just because they do not have a smart phone to get the app for free.

09-16-2013, 03:10 AMrabbitzero$11 for the square one, and Blizzard has one for $6.50, is a SMALL price to pay to help secure your account, especially since both games have a sub, and spammers are more motivated to hack than just create free accounts like in f2p or games with trials. I'm going to say what i'm sure would be said anyway, if you can't afford ten dollar key, perhaps playing a game with a monthly sub isn't for you, and time should be spent doing better than playing games.Quote:

Especially when you look at it from the point that they 'give' you the first month (30 days) of your subscription for free just for buying the game.
