i have a transfered 1.0 character. was originally a gladiator, which i initially leveled to 44. also have paladin 44, maruder 33, conjurer 30, lancer 2, and fishing to 5. i have done all the NEW story line quests up to level 30 (have chocobo and it partners with me fine). i did all the 1.0 storyline quests to at least 10.
but now when i go to any guild that i did not open in 1.0, the guild receptionist tells me that i need to level my main class and to do the story quests through level 10, which i've obviously done. my journal shows all story quests in the current version don through level 30 and I wouldn't know how to re do them if I could. i can not open any new classes. help!

It's the level 10 guild quest that you need to complete, not the main story.
I have no idea if it has to be the level 10 guild quest of the class you started as or not, but I hope that helps. -

Yeah, for 1.0 characters you don't start the game with the Armoury system fully unlocked - you only have access to those classes/Jobs you already had exp in from 1.0 - any classes you didn't level remain locked until you complete the level 10 class quest from the Guild of the class you chose to start ARR in.
You then have to unlock them like a new character does, travelling to the Guild of that required class, speaking to the receptionist, joining up, and speaking to the Guildmaster. Sadly SE didn't make this very clear when they listed information for transferring 1.0 characters into the game.
Rule of thumb for a 1.0 character in ARR - if you didn't gain it in 1.0, then you don't have it at the start of ARR, and have to unlock it like a new character I'm afraid (that goes for chocobos/mounts, retainers and Grand Companies too). -
