How to Make the THM Spell "Drain" More Useful

Using "Drain" at full HP temporarily increases your max HP by the amount drained.



As of right now, no one uses this useless spell because it doesn't do enough damage to be a decent DD spell, and it doesn't heal enough damage to be a decent healing spell. This should give people a reason to use it.

I've found a nice use for it though. Since Sacrifice requires a loss of HP to be used, you can't use it if your HP is below that. A few times I've found myself in the dire situation where I wasn't fast enough to use Sacrifice, or the enemy hit me surprisingly hard, and my HP dropped below the golden point. Drain has been a lifesaver in those situations.

But otherwise, it's pretty useless.

Cure is a lot more useful in that situation. All mages should have both cure and sac equipped.

As true as that might be, I wish to play THM exclusively, not mix and match, though the game is aimed at doing that. Call me weird, but it's my preferences. ;)

If you do that, you're missing out on a lot of skills that would make you much more effective in battle.

Oh I am aware that I'll have to do it at some point, but for now I've managed with THM only. Still, the hour will probably come when I have to mix a bit.

I typically play strictly Conjurer, too. I only borrow Siphon MP. ^^

Dark Seal helps too. And Siphon TP. The absorb-stat spells are also pretty good to have if you have the space on your bar.
