War tank and Ak

I feel I am a decent tank, I don't use macros, everything is key bound and muscle memory plays a huge part. I feel Iam better than average atleast.
Anyways I have tanked infrit hard twice, with no issues.
The problem is ak dungeon. I wanted to run this as i heard it was a good way to get dark light gear vs doing the 8 mans.
So I join up and everyone wants to rush and asks if i do speed runs. I just say whatever you want. so we try and run to bosses, and I die alot or the threat does to someone else and healer dies so there is none to res.

They blame me to no end for this, ok I put up with it.

Now on to the last boss in ak, I have tanked him 3 times and have done so placing him facing the NE statue with his tail in the wall. Successful all three times then my 4th time i do just that and the dps is yelling at me like I just killed his cat that you never ever ever tank like that. And then I said what about tail swipe and told me not to worry about it.

And since we did not clear trash and had to run through mobs again we never made it back to the boss and I was blamed for everything

I just want to know what I did wrong, I heard warriors are not the best rushers, I proposed we kill trash and they said no need its a waste of my time.

I have not tanked since this and been leveling up other jobs, I kind of felt discouraged and if this is what it's going to be like then i want no part of it.

I'm not sure exactly where you have him positioned, but I can offer my method.

I typically pull him to the inside of the last statue to spawn as adds (think that is NE, not able to check atm). I keep him facing the same way that he faces where he starts. If you keep him close enough to the statue, melee can actually still hit him while LoSing the Catastrophe. As soon as the Catastrophe cast bar finishes, you can safely move out from behind the statue and get back into position, so that the boss never turns to face the rest of group.

My method is to run around the outter wall so that I am in that back-right corner, and then shield lob. As the boss approaches the corner, cut around the statue to the left, positioning the boss just to the inside of the statue. As soon as Catastrophe starts, circle-strafe to your right, and you end up behind the Statue for LoS. Once you get your rhythm down, I've easily been able to get in position for Catastrophe even with the Weight effect on.

Both just curious on tips for war tanking speed runs and should I stick with the 2 hr instance or ak runs and put up with the speed runners

I've always tanked him in the back right of the room with his back side facing the back left corner while the ranged would stay in the front right corner of the room behind that pillar. You can stand where the pillar is between you and the middle of the room and you never have to move. And as far as the training mobs goes... you can't do that any more they added channeled doors that need to be opened as well as putting mobs in the "safe spots". So no more "speed runs".

I thought they put a fix in place so you could not do speed runs any more? You have to grind AK now. The 8 man is probably faster for DL armor if you have a decent group.

They changed AK with Wednesday's patch so that running past trash is at least much harder. My groups just kill trash now instead of running past. Although I would be interested to see if is possible to still skip some stuff.

Warrior does fine there, just Duty Finder people are stupid sometimes. Could join a FC/LS and get a (usually better) group that way, or keep using DF to make it easier to form the group.

AK is one of the few dungeons providing Mythology tomestones. Need those for the ilvl90 gear. So definitely you want to be going there.

I've done it plenty as a warrior. Should get my chest piece with mythology tomes later today.

People love to blame the tank, but even if there is only one known strategy to most for the bosses there are hundreds. People get surprised if you pull it differently then they are used to lol.
Sometimes people want me to tank golems with the first boss (hard as hell to do and stun the void attack, but possible). Other times just ignore and keep boss well managed. Sometimes even just stay right in middle till the main boss comes, its all good experience so i usually go with it. But sometimes when it does not work and I try to suggest my preferred way I am met with "that will never work!" (my preferred way is to tank him on the left, ignoring golems).
