Steps: I fought the boss in Dzemael Darkhold and died before the boss was defeated, my party still won however. After the boss died and the cutscene was over, I had not received a notification of completion for the quest "Shadows Uncast" Upon leaving the dungeon it flagged as completed and I handed it in to the Twin Adders commander Vorsaile Heuloix.

Now when I try to promote past chief serpent sergeant the NPC tells me I must complete the commanders trial before I can advance.
