Do I get some sort of buff or something? Cause right now, I seem really squishy even though I'm a Gladiator...

Actually that's not true. Jobs do change your stats noticeably.

I don't know about that..I'm pretty sure when I became a White Mage I got a serious stat boost. Same with Scholar. Though I can't get on to check that right now...

stat boost and since you're gla going pld you will get shield oath at 40.

You get bonuses to all of your stats, as well as access to PLD abilities. You obtain Shield Oath at level 40 that reduces damage taken by 20%, reduces damage done by 20%, and doubles your enmity generation.

Okay, I know I'm going for Paladin.

However, should I go over the excruciating time of leveling my Conjurer to 34 for Stoneskin? Seems like a nice buff to stack onto my character... 10% of my HP off of damage from enemies? Yes, please.

EDIT: Oh, and Second Wind from Pugilist. That just seems necessary as an emergency move...

This is entirely up to you... End game wise I've seen only 1 out like 50 plds use stoneskin on themselves
