Tab Targeting is not intuitive

Steps:
1. see 4 targets like in attached screenshot, face the target you would expect to be selected by pressing "tab"
2. press tab in hopes he will be targeted (target 1)
3. insted another target on the edge of the screen is targeted (target 2), tabbing again cycles through targets who would be out of range to execute any action on them, and the most obvious target is targeted with the fourth TAB push, instead of first one.

The tab targeting in this game is the worst of any mmo I played. I don't think I'm going to bother tanking till this gets sorted, dps is hard enough like this.

Adding my voice, tab targeting needs some work.

There are some filters in there that you can check to supposedly only tab between specific types of targets like aggroing enemies or party members. But it doesn't seem to work.

Also agree with OP that a mob that is out of range of all of your abilities should not be included in tab targeting.

Priority should be closest enemy->farthest enemies, and front enemies->side enemies.
Now looks like it's totally random.

I don't have really any issues with this... If you read the targeting system info, It selects the CLOSEST target to you first... hence your sequence.... If you think about it logically, if you are in combat... USUALLY the closest target is the one you're usually engaged in... many times might not be facing it directly either...

I created a video tutorial to help controller players in the new player help section... I've been playing this setup since the beginning and have no gripes. I sometimes see controller players in dungeons getting heat from mouse and key players. It's also funny how after they chew somebody out, I tell them i play on controller... I don't get complains from my playstyle because I can efficiently work it. If they don't believe me I simply direct them to my live stream link and give em a wink. LOL!

you can try these settings and see if this helps during runs, but the targeting still goes CLOSEST to FURTHEST.

Usually you want to target something you are facing, and if not - face it and then try to target it. Closest target might be all good for melee in most cases, but not so much for ranged characters.

No it doesn't and that is clearly presented in my video, but it seems you are too busy advertising, to actually have watched the video.

Actually i have had very few problems with the tab targetting. then again i am using the marking system which works wonders for tanking. as soon as 1 dies or before he dies if you tab. boom 2 comes up everytime. without the marking system yes. it seems random sometimes. bu for the most part i havent had many problems targetting.

I use "X" "X" to target the "target" in front of me. If i press right dpad. the nearest target is next... and so on till it loops. If I use the left dpad. It targets furthest one to closest. Thats how I've been playing, but I'm not on mouse and key. I prefer controllers. so technically if you target what the game calls forward, it select the closest target. Also I watched your video. I can see that the 1 and 2 are the closest... with POV being so far and not being able to measure distance of variables... it could be that the 2 was "closest target" ... as for it drifting off further before 1... is beyond me... I don't seem to have this issue. Have you applied filters before to combat this? Maybe my filter settings are what keeping me from having this issue. Hence the reason I mentioned the targeting filters... It's easier to point to my thread than typing it over and over.

As for advertising... I don't monetize videos... so I just put it there for reference... Sometime YOUTUBE automatically applies ads if the content is owned by a company that requires ads to run on my videos, but I don't push videos for views or money... just trying to help. Try the filters and see if this helps... I know there are only enemies in this video, but because your current filter is ALL... it might not prioritize. Checking is all I was saying... if it helps then good... if not submit a bug... ( im not sure if there is a more OFFICIAL bug report than forum post in this section, since i've have yet to encounter any)

the farther your camera is from your character (or having an increased field of view) increases your TAB preferences. Trying to click on a target is a futile effort. I agree that more work needs be done to tab targeting to make it more intuitive.
