[dev1015] Job Quests.
Why does SE find the need to make some Quest encounters unbeatable?
The two that come to mind are the R36 MRD quest, and the Ul'dah opening sequence quest. Unlimited HP? Seriously?
What ever happened to being the main character in the story! Everyone in the story is just pushing your character around like you're nothing.
Hell, even the R46 Story Mission (spoilers) has you getting saved by your guide NPC. I didn't grind to R50 to get saved. I want to kill something. I want to fight someone epic. Not play foursquare with a giant robot and get saved by a catgirl.(spoilers
SE needs to get on top of this >.>

Eh, I like the feeling of anonymity within the story's fold. I'd even prefer it if my character weren't a center of attentions, but just another adventurer the actual story characters shuffle through... I think that PCs should be important to players and communities, not so much the actual plot. That aside, some role play support would always be fun though :P

lol i was fighting that gladiator and was wondering why wont he die...... then 4mins later i instantly die..... why not just make the npc hit u for 2k dmg a swing instead of me entering instance as a 30 pug and wondering why i cant kill something that i took down to 1% hp in 4secs...

Because people would bitch, regardless of the fact it's unbeatable, if it one shotted you. Unwinable story encounters are a staple of RPGs, especially FF games.

I understand we are the deus ex machina of storyline, but even the most invincible hero of all time begins as a fuming pile of do-doo. '-'
It's like in wow you go killing the lich king at level 10 armed with grey items
