Catalysts and how to get them?

Okay so I'm a bit tired and perturbed looking for this answer. I've read where to obtain the catalysts but no thread or video telling me how to obtain them. I know before 2.0 you needed a skill called Finger print of the Gods? or something like that.. But I heard they took that out?

So.. can someone link me to where I can read up on how to obtain catalysts? or just tell me if I need a certain quest or skill to get them..

They come from normal gathering nodes like any other gathering material.
Heavens, your L15(?) gatherer class quest will ask that you gather 99 carbonized matters. It's not at all a big deal, it's even going to show up in your gathering log once you're in the level range.

Thanks I figured it was the easy.... Reading up on it got me mixed up about how things were run in the old 1.0 so I kept going back and forth to kokosamu...
