Im posting this thread because this game killed my PS3! I have had this game for 2 weeks now and my PS3 had crashed and will no longer turn on due to overheating the processor! If you want to save your PS3 stop playing this game! I have several friends who play this game on the PS3 and have had the same issues with overheating! Stop playing this game while your PS3 is still working!

I don't claim to be an expert at this stuff, but I seriously doubt it was the game that killed your PS3.
I'm not trying to be rude at all, it's just that almost any game will heat up the PS3 if played long enough. You also didn't really give any info on your PS3, how old is it? Is it a fat or slim model? Where do you keep the PS3 at in the room? These are all factors that have to be considered before blaming the game.
SE spent a long time making sure the PS3 could handle this game, besides the occasional freeze (which sucks) I haven't really had any problems so far.
Hey, maybe you are right though, and the game is too demanding, maybe it will fry your PS3 but ive been playing since beta phase 3 and it hasn't yet. Honestly I doubt it will, PS3s die, all electronics do eventually.. -

Yeah I have had my PS3 since its first day of launch and I run XIV great on it. Maybe it was a coincidence? Or maybe since its such a demanding game it just really over did it on your system :X

I know many people playing the PS3 version of FFXIV and none of them had the issue you had. I've also had many friends who had a PHAT PS3 who had the same issue you had, except they were playing other games. I've also heard some of my friends who had their PS3 poorly ventilated (both Slim and Phat) and fell into the same issue you had, except with guess what? Other games. -

You know they sell this handy stuff called compressed air at pretty much any store that you can blow out dust with to keep electronics cooler.

Many of the launch models have already failed. Unless you took the time to install new thermal paste and clean it thoroughly, this was bound to happen and it was not FFXIV's fault. They can go for a ton because of their backwards comparability, and the fact that a working one is so rare. So you're pretty lucky that it even lasted this long to begin with. Sorry for your loss OP, but I can promise you the game did not do this.
