Glad its an actual problem and not my bad.
Only gotten as far as Ifrit, and already the problem is being hit by every aoe even when your way clear seconds ago was driving me divvy trying to figure what I was doing wrong.
I'd add my own details to the linked bug report... But have never been able to post in the bug report forums due to a permission denied thing when I'd tried.
So, will offer here in the hope its still seen. As my setup is a little not-typical.
ISP: Tooway, Skylogic.
Type of Internet Connection: Geo-synchronous KA-Band Satellite
Internet Connection Speed: 40Mbit/down 6Mbit/up
Frequency: Always
Character Name: Ninki Lil'izi
World: Balmung
Area and Coordinates: Anywhere with AOE warnings
SYSTEM: AMD Quad Phenom2, 32GB RAM, SSD, 2xSLI 2GB GTX460 feeding a 3D Projection system (Nvidia 3D TVPLAY over HDMI 1.4a). FPS mostly caps to VSYNC of actual 120fps. 60fps per eye.
~700ms minimum ping with average of +-80ms jitter

Yes, that ping may look terrifying. But the closest infrastructure to where I live makes the speed of light my primary bottleneck.
I tried ground based long distance microwave relays first.... This was the 'snappier', infinitely more stable upgrade.
Apart from this issue. game is perfectly playable.
I actually thought it was on my end, infact I was definitely sure it was someone youtubing in my place that it took all the bandwidth. Still get this on EU aswell and most of the story instances are dead hard to finish because of this.
NA+EU Servers are both in Canada.
So, would not expect divergent performance.
I rekkon the NA/EU Labels are more a formality for user preferences than anything technical.
