Im a squishy tank?
I was running Brayflox as my 32 Paladin. I had no real problems holding hate and if I lost it it was mine again in a quick second. But the problem is according to my group i was squishy. I had full 30 steel gear as my paladin and i had 2 pieces of cavalry gear. We beat the dungeon but the healer said he had to spam cure more then normal. I'm trying to figure out what could be causing this. Should i have not run the dungeon till 34? Should i have my materia set different? I use battledance and vit boost where I can. Should i socket str+? I admit i didn't have every single slot fixed with a materia. Maybe that's the issue? I just don't understand how im if geared for my lvl i was squishy. As far ass attributes i went with a 2:1 Vit:Str mix.
Please give me some advice because I've been a tank in every mmo since ultima online and hate to think that people think I'm horrid at my job.I live for tanking in mmos. I just don't see how I'm in full lvl 30 steel gear running a 32 lvl dungeon id be squishy.

Brayflox's mobs damage just scale harder than your gears. It was the first dungeon that I find the at-level gears no longer provides easy time tanking. Healer just gotta learn the dungeon and that they won't have time to add in dps now.

Couple of things here. If your group is not sleeping the extra adds then yes you will be taking a lot of damage. If they are sleeping the adds then healer will have to heal spam.
If they are not sleeping rotate a buff for each fight, so rampart 1 fight, next fight foresight, next fight rampart, so on and so on.

Silly question but did you have your buffs up?
I've seen some tanks forget to put their buffs up and it makes them squishy.

I think its just an issue with Brayflox - I tanked this last night and healer ran out of MP with 10% of boss's HP left - I died, but we won anyway. I was on WAR, which I thought was the problem, but since you had similar issue on PLD, i'm thinking Brayflox is just an MP sink for healer

The only time this happened to me was at the Dragon and it was because I did not avoid enough of the breath attacks. If you avoid 90% of the breath attacks should be plenty of mp to finish the fight if your dps don't suck and you move the dragon out of the healing pools.

Yeah i threw up rampart and such. PLD doesnt get shield oath till 40. I was fine with everything in 1.0, beta and up to 30. Im hoping its like people said and its just the damage of the zone. Perhaps the healer was new to the zone and didnt realize how much more curing was required.

If the healer is running out of mana, it can mean ALLOT of things: 1 - Your squishy and not using your CD to their potential. 2 - Healer needs to be more efficient and/or timely. 3 - DPS needs to unleash the deeps better, or take less damage. Funny how each part of the trinity needs to hold up their end for it all to work out. Brayflox is a stepping stone, of many many stepping stones in our FF future. Learn from it, get better... or play a different role.

Just did for the first time last night. Our PLD's health seemed to be dropping faster than normal so our WHM and I started sleeping the adds. I figured there would come a point where CCing would become necessary/advisable during normal pulls.

Brayflox was the first dungeon in which I actually died, and I was well geared and level 33 (WAR). From conversation and observation it seems as though this is one of the first jumps in dungeon difficulty, when CC and smart play actually start to matter. After we figured out that everything was hitting harder and we had to be on our toes, I used my cooldowns more often and the healer wouldn't let me drop as low. Bickety bam, the whole stage comes down. Point being, I wouldn't be worried yet.
