I've just completed the story mode and I'm looking to upgrade my weapons. (Black Mage by the way).
Looking at the item database on xivdb.com, I've seen these staves called the Giantsgall Longstaff and the Astrolabe.
I was just wondering if anybody knows where to get them as they can act as my weapons until I get my Relic weapons
Now on AH only , before ( in 1.0 they was dropped in "Skirmish" battles )
I've never seen them being sold. You can pick up the highest level weapon you can get from your GC vendor, then spam Wanderer's Palace or Ifrit hard mode until you get a drop. The palace never dropped the weapon for me, but I got my Ifrit cudgel on the third completion. Ifrit can seem tough the first play through or three, but once you get the mechanics down, its pretty simple.
