Duty, Honor, Country glitch

in the mission Duty, Honor, Country i ran into a glitch, after i beat the Gargoyle and the mage nothing spawned after that even though the NPCs started attacking other, invisible, foes. and the only NPC that wasn't invisible was that thief guy in the black tunic.
is there a way to fix this?
