Change Duty Restrictions...

Posting this here because it won't let me post in the General Discussion.

It's probably the most annoying thing I've found in the game so far: the duty social restrictions. When someone is "bound by duty" they cannot be whispered to! Why not?

Also, if you form a group via the Duty Finder you can't see your Free Company page, you have no Free Company tag, and you can't even access your Friends List.

I don't see the point in all this, and it feels like a weird punishment. I'd really like to see some of these restrictions lifted.

I'm afraid it's technical, rather than arbitrary restrictions.

IIRC, duty finder works by taking out the participants into another server (hence all this problem regarding server connections are being fixed by adjustments to the duty finder). I'm assuming the restrictions are there because there will be people (also FCs) with the same name on different servers, and thus preventing confusion.

Though I've yet to see a duty-found group with two person having a same name.

As said above - this is purely technical limitations on any of the instanced content rather that intentional limitations as at those time you're located at different (instanced / DF) servers with no direct connection to your home world server. They simple want to keep the inter server traffic to minimum hence the unability to use tells or access your FC / friends data etc.

I heard it was to prevent harassment if someone from another world performed poorly in a Duty. Well, I guess it may have been a bonus rather than intentional.

Harassment by whom and when exactly? While on the (party) duty you can indeed talk to other party members and once the instance is over you can talk to those from the same server (naturally) unless they've blacklisted you and not to anyone else from other worlds / servers due to the nature of the world's setup.
