Why is Ruin a cross class skill?

For BLM?
It is worse than any other damaging skill. I can't think of a scenario of it being useful... Any ideas?

I concur. It can be useful for classes that need some ranged dps for pulling (starting with Aero and following up with ruin). But yes, outside of that scenario, it seems kind of pointless.

I can't think of one either, ruin is crap. In fact BLM gets pretty much no useful xclass skills or even job skills, it's not unique from thaum at all really, pretty disappointing. Raging strikes + quelling strikes only useful things for BLM.

I have been wondering myself why ruin would be useful to any other classes/jobs. Good question. Low potency so why would anyone use it?

Same reason BLM can use Hawk's Eye.

Hawk's Eye -- Increases DEX by 15% and physical accuracy by 20%.

Poor design.

Yeah but how can that happen if they would have thought about it 1 second? It is nonsense...crossclass skills are a cool design but please some skills that are actually useful?

Same with Skull Sunder for Glad. We have the exact same skill and we don't get the other parts of the combo for Skull Sunder. 100% useless. Cross combo abilities really need to be thought out more.

I wish they'd change the description on that. It says "increases physical accuracy" but what is actually does is just increase your accuracy stat, which does help blm land status effect spells (like sleep and binds). So it's not really "physical accuracy" but just accuracy as a whole. So it is useful
