Mounts

I just hit my level 20 and need help trying to get a mount. I am based out of New Gridania and I have no clue what to do. I have searched the forums and have come up empty handed.

You have to complete your main quest up to the point where you can choose which of the 3 Grand Companies to join..after that you will have an NPC in your faction who will give you a quest to get one. You need 2000 seals to buy the license.

I recall that there's a main quest for this.

Additionally,

In order to get Company Seals once you have joined a Company, you have to do fates. I have not checked it out for myself, but I have heard you can get them by also doing Dungeons and Guildleves. I don't know how much truth there is to that. As I said, I never checked.

I did not get my Chocobo until I was level 24. It took me that long to get enough Company Seals to afford it. While my method might be slower, I just did Fates that were near quests I was doing, or on the way to one.

How do you know, or how can you check to see how many seals you have already?

What I do is go to my character page and go to the currency tab. But I play on PS3 so what is normal for me might be different for a PC player.

You don't start getting seals until you have joined a GC.

AFAIK there are 4 ways to get GC seals

1. Company leves
2. Delivery missions
3. Company hunting log
4. FATEs

You shouldn't be too bothered with them for now though, just concentrate on advancing your main quest until you can join a GC.

To join a GC, you need to progress in the main story until after you beat Ifrit and return to Minfilia in the Scion of the Seventh Dawns HQ in Vesper Bay. From there, you will be greater by the 3 runners from the different GC, and you will have to travel to the different City-States to view the speeches given by each of the GC leaders, before you can choose one and start working on getting your Chocobo.. :3

If you click on the currency icon at the bottom right it will show you how many seals you have.
