Max # in Food Stats?

I couldn't search this very well, but could someone please explain to me what the (Max #) thing is after a stat boost? At first, I was thinking that it means that it was the maximum number which that stat can be boosted. But then I looked at waaay lower level items and found that they have somewhat close boosted numbers...

(Example: Scrambled Eggs Lv.34 boosts Crit by 6% (Max 10), while Dodo Omelette Lv.16 boosts Crit by 8% (Max 5). So...does that basically mean that Omelettes are easier to boost Crit with but have a smaller cap?)

This is kind of embarrassing not to know as a level 30 Culinarian. There really isn't anything that explains this well in the game though :(

The lower level items have a higher boost %, but a lower cap, yes.
