Market Undercutting

What is wrong with the undercutting on this server?

Here is an example of some items being sold.

Item X

sold : 10,000 g
sold : 10,000 g
sold: 8,000 g <---- BAM why do you need to under cut 2k?
sold: 6,000 g <---- #$(&!!!!!!!!!!




I don't get it why do people on this server like to make less gil then they can?

It means quick selling, ofcourse you could put it up for 9990 or something but someone else or the one who is selling it for 10k will probably put it up for 9980 and so forth. This way it is just i sell my item first then you can sell yours for 10k. And basicly seller decide what the price is so don't see the problem, the buyer is happy and can use the 2 or 4k on some other item so another seller is happy 2.

i wish it worked that way, one person undercuts then 5 more items are put up right after for even cheaper so it never gets back to the 10k

they put it lower so the gnomes can reach it

Because using the market place does not require basic economic knowledge much less does it require a shred of common sense.

So? What makes you think 10K is the "right" value? Because a few items sold at that price?

Large undercutting like this is actually beneficial to the market (or at least people who play the market) as it encourages reselling.

It'll take a few more weeks, but eventually prices will bottom out. Many crafters--myself included--are gouging pretty hard right now in an attempt to capitalize on the low number of level 50 crafters. In the Carpenter Market, for example, Lancer and Archer relic precursors cost about 10-15k to make, but were selling for 80k just a couple days ago. Over this past weekend, however, the cost has increased slightly as more crafters buy up the supplies while the value has decreased as those same crafters undercut each other to move inventory. As a result, those same Lancer/Archer precusors that were selling for 80k on Friday are selling for 40k or less today.

The first few crafters of each class to hit 50 banked at least 1M gil (if they made any effort) and many banked quite a bit more (I can think of a handful who are likely sitting on 5M+). Believe it or not, this is beneficial to both the DoH and DoL communities, as the wealthy crafters are more likely to buy the materials needed to level their other classes directly from the market instead of farming for themselves, which will help pump money back into the economy and make gathering a source of steadier income.

Additionally, the expected crash of materiel/shard prices due to botting hasn't happened yet--though of course it will eventually--so dedicated DoL players can still expect reasonable returns for their time investment.

I know, right? I don't mind the undercutting, but undercut by 1 gil!
