Why would people spend money on gold? You just mine it...
Gil on the other hand. That stuff is worth something! 80Usd if I had to guesstimate.
This your first mmo?
Whether it's Gil or Gold, its all the same. Unfortunately these sort of sites dont care about ToS or the likes, they will still sell it. It's a matter of reporting them when you see them. The problem is you have those fools out there who think they can cheat in order to win. They hurt no one but themselves. Besides, for the amount of G they are offering I doubt they have even got that much as yet.
What SE need to do is track their Paypal accounts, and the likes and report them directly to them and to flag the sites with Visa and MasterCard and sighting the ToS for FFXIV:ARR to them. Unfortunately, here in places like Australia, as long as you have registered a business name and run it like a business it's not illegal.
There will always be real money trading in these games, kind of like the black market and drug dealing in real life.
That being said, they can help protect us from the spam by giving us the option of right clicking their name and having the 'Add to Black List' option. Currently, this option is not there, while adding the spammer to our friend's list is.
It does take a few seconds to highlight their name, CTRL+C, and then paste that into the Black List tab on your Social Menu - but ultimately not the end of the world.
I think there is a bigger issue and that's the mass teleporting bots who are farming those need to be removed quickest.
I already hit 200 spammers on my black list -.- *sighs*
Would be nice if SE's servers automatically lock accounts that get blacklisted an absurd amount of times. At least until SE reviews it. Kinda sad seeing some of these guys go for days without getting a ban. It would probably save SE some time too because they would ultimately get less support tickets submitted on these fools.
