Are 'advanced jobs' held back by cross-class restrictions?

So I switched to a Warrior yesterday adn was super excited to see what benefits it would bring. Unfortunately though, a few of the skills from other classes (eg cnj, acn) could not be used as warrior can only use skills from marauder gladiator and pugilist. Sure, the defiance was handy, especaily when combined with Skull Sunder to grant Wrath, but was it worth sacrificing my fail-safes where I bite off more than I can chew? Or being able to heal my chocobo (who is a whole 7 ranks away from learning cure itself)

Looking to hear other's opinions on wether advances jobs were worth it or just a way to show off.

Switching to a job specifies your role, it does make you better at it and adds insanely important job actions.

I personally never use classes, but if I did, I'd only use them for their superior survivability soloing. In groups there is no use for classes or the cross-skills you might miss now.

Thanks for the input :) I guess it only takes a little bit of adjustment to switch between depending on teh tasks ahead so long as I keep the main skills I use in the same hotkey slots.

I just became a bard. And compare to Archer is completely useless Outside of party situation. My White Mage on the other hand is significantly better than being a conjurer.

Usually the class is better than it's associated job for solo purposes. Jobs, as said before, specialize your role for party-oriented content

It is more apparent how much better they are as you get more skills. I wouldn't dream of healing on Conjurer and not having access to Regen or Divine Seal. Also, your base stats get a significant boost just for being in the job.
