Random Quests

SE is talking a lot about the "Coming threat" to Eorzea, but evil empires are not usually the type to stand around waiting for you to accept a quest that pits you against them.

So as a way to add a lot of life and dynamics to the world I thought that Randomly generated quests would be a nice addition.

Random quests can come out of nowhere, one minute your walking the road then suddenly a traveling merchant is calling for help. You get their to see him under attack from wolves or something. Random quests could be many more things than just attacked merchants, it could be location missions, escort missions, even helping a small child repair her favorite toy, because you are the big tough adventurer with a heart of gold.

Now these would add some real atmosphere to the game, giving a sense of danger to the world as well as give people a reason to NOT warp everywhere they go.

What do you think? What would you add? What kind of random Quests would you like to see?

I think this could be quite seamlessly implemented to guildleves as a way to make them more varied. They would also be a bigger part of the game world instead of feeling too detached and sterile.

Honestly if there were random frequent events like this thrown in the mix this game would take a huge step forward.

While I do like the thoughts behind the idea, I also wonder exactly how commonly such things should happen before they would become annoying and/or overly repetitive. Also, would they be instances or...?

It would certainly make the overall world feel very alive. I imagine it would take some time to implement, though.
