There is a similar problem with the 20th sun of the Fifth Asttral Moon (e.g. 9/20) reporting itself as 9/19--this issue has been in since 1.x and they have repeatedly not fixed it. I even think they acknowledged it at one point in beta, but never addressed it.
The issue in the Fifth Astral moon (e.g. 9th month) was that two days earlier in the month had the same numeric representation, e.g. 6th sun reported 9/6, and the 7th sun reported 9/6 as well. (Don't remember the exact days that duplicated their date format)
It does show up wrong when choosing, and should be fixed, but it does show correctly once you have picked it. I noticed that even though 4/22 showed the choice as 4/21, once I clicked okay/next whatever, it did register the correct day as 22.
Yes - this is fairly old bug reported already numerous times ...
This is not bug to begin with. Calendar where you choose date is Eorzean calendar, below you're shown date you chose in Earth calendar. Who ever said that dates in Eorzean calendar and Earth calendar should match?
As far as I understood you're not shown the earth date, the date you're shown is just a different format representation of the long form based on your selection. For instance the Fifth Astral moon shows the selection of the 20th sun as 9/19t; the Eorzean calendar is composed of 12 months, with 32 days a piece. In the numerical date format displayed in that month, two days have the same format representation early in the month, despite being (clearly) two different "suns" (e.g. days), which causes subsequent days to misrepresent themselves.
