Almost 300 views and no reply, i assume no one knows.
Based on the anatomy of the Lalafell, it's hard to judge how they even give birth, maybe like marsupials? Then they would need time to get their brain to maturity, like a human. So I would assume another 20 years after birth the brain would reach full maturity. So far nature has proven that in order to have an intelligent being, as ourselves, a long child hood would be key for the development of the brain. Humans need about 20 years for maximum brain maturity, so i assume all these other races would need the same time.
I guess that's a fair assumption, but I was thinking maybe a smaller size assumes a shorter time to develop.
Dwarfs have the same size heads as normal size adults and most have the same intelligence level, yet they still have the same length of time to develop (not body, but brain maturity).
Lalafells have one of the largest heads, regardless of body size. Maturity level is likely to develop slowly.
The only ones who would know are the lore team. Unfortunately Fernehalwes doesn't have time now to give us all the lore we want.
As for the speculation, you are probably pretty close Englesyn. Until we meet another "intelligent" race (if we ever do) we can only base the amount of time needed for a brain equivalent to ours to properly develop on ourselves.
Until we find out otherwise I like to think that Lalafells are monotremes.
