I was able to play the game before yesterday updates. So I assume the update corrupted some files, and I just need to reinstall the game. But if you anybody have a fix without having to reinstall the game, would be greatly appreciated.

same issue here today after patch
Just reinstalled it, and Im able click on Log In to redownload the game, hopefully it will work.
if it aint 1 thing it is anouther ....
Same problem here any fix besides reinstalling?
I was having the same problem. I'd click play and the launcher would load a little and then close out, nothing else happening. Then I ran the game as an administrator, which got the game player to open, but now I get a Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has stopped working.
Deleted the folder inside my Games and had to click the EULA again but it's now working
I'm also getting this error. It occurs whenever I try to log in on a character (I get the 'now loading' screen, and then instead of logging in it gives me the "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has stopped working"). I also get this error whenever I try to make a new character, as soon as I start playing with the height slider bar, bam. Crash.
I've tried using the methods listed above to no avail, and I'm running the beta phase 4 client updated, if that helps. I had/have a legacy account.
