What's this tatoo ?

I just figured about this tatoo i got on the back :

Some friend told me only legacy players got it, but i'm not legacy i think...
I played like 6 months on the V.1 but paid 2 months before the end (missed the third for 1 week, crap), so basically i didn't get the legacy statut.

What bothers me the most is that one of my friend who IS legacy with the legacy icon in the main menu and legacy chocobo doesn't have this tatoo at all, how comes :confused:

I don't get it :(

The tatoo shows up on any character that was created before the 1.0 servers went down, the legacy/non legacy qualification of the account doesn't have anything to do with it.

Then, is it normal my friend doesn't have it ? He created his character way before the 1.0 ended though...
Or maybe it's because he's a Lalafell and you can barely see it, but i would call myself blind then...

It actually is part of the Legacy promotion, the same tattoo is also on the beak of the Legacy chocobo. Your friend likely didn't play during the period that 1.0 was subscription based, as such they may have kept their character but didn't qualify for the campaign rewards.

Append: Or they could have rolled a new character on your server. New characters of Legacy accounts get the chocobo but not the tattoo.

Maybe you did qualify for Legacy and didn't notice. I mean, did you cancel your account before the game went free in the last months or did you let Square do it for you when they ended service? I managed to get 4 months before Square canceled service.

Have them try this command in the chat window to show/hide the legacy mark:
/legacymark
/lmark

the mark is only called legacy because it was a character that existed in 1.0 - it has nothing to do with the legacy promotions.
