Disappointed, this seems a beta

Many forgot the reason why Yoshida started 2.0, he didnt like the Server structure of 1.0, he saw was impossible to Implement a "Duty finder" so they planned a total remake of the game starting from the Servers!.

Reading The are still some Errors make me disappointed by the patch and by all this Launch, is too Rushed, seems we are still in Beta.
I dont want be "that guy" who hate all and everyone, but the server structure is bad. now Duty finder is split in 4 groups and will work slower.

why only 3-4 new Worlds? why worlds are closed? why we cant Freely move between worlds like other games? why max population of a world is 5000-7000?
Im fan of the Final Fantasy series, i dont Just want play the game, i want the series to return have success, all this past Years SE only make me sad (and not only me) .

There are some misconceptions here..

1 - Only 3 new worlds. They did only add three but have more to add as needed. Why three right now? They just increased from hardware on existing servers the amount of players to be connected at any given time from 5000 to 7500-7800, 50% to 56% increase in overall allowance which is a pretty big deal. Other games have at most 6500 (most WoW servers not much more)

2 - Connections =/= population. Connections is the allowed characters at any given point to be online. The population is exceeding 20-30k per server, which is ridiculous.

3 - Servers costs millions to create and maintain, bandwidth, electricity, GMs, etc. Server Transfers will probably cost a lot as well if a server has to be taken down .. going into my 4th point...

4 - Fad Factor.. the population is going to fluctuate. SE is having a hard time to predict needs because of how Fickle and Fad like gamers are. FFXIV is the flavor of the month, but once 30 days are up, the FAD gamers will find something else, some will find FF isn't their playstyle, others will give up because they haven't played a launch and don't realize how this isn't the "worst" launch in history. Putting up excess servers to only have them taken down in 1-2 months is very costly and Rift lost millions for doing this.

Be thankful the servers were still up the entire time. Many launches were plagued with 100% unplayable. Let us not remember the many characters lost forever in another popular MMO's launch...

Look on bright side, they aren't allowed to bill us whilst we cant play. If they did i'd just get it reversed from my bank. Its nice that debit and credit card transactions are protected by so many fail safes.

Ya stone age game is stone age.. Bugs beyond bugs beyond bugs.

3.0 will fix it.

Its worse than Beta i actually got to play that >.< {1017}{do you need it}

They are doing insane hardware upgrades for a huge amount of players. However what happens when those players get bored and move on after a few months and hte population drops from 280k to 150k? Servers don't cost millions, probably around 15k per world server since I'm sure they're buying in bulk and have agreements iwth manufacturers. Server transfers won't require a server to be taken down, logistically it's not that bad. However it's not a priority, there's other stuff that takes precedence.

Worlds are still closed because they opened new worlds, why have 10k people trying to log into one server and 300 in another? You'd close the 10k until the 300 server filled up a bit more.


Yes SE has repeatively flopped on the last few launches, however it's not 100% their fault, and not 100% due to negligence. 1.0 was rushing to hit a holiday deadline, and had a design that wasn't fully tested. But SE has a history of paving the way with games and making it work. When ffxi came out, that game was completely different than anything. But players adapted. 1.0's launch didn't fail due to bugs, but rather players didn't want to adapt. Kind of a new concept for them being that gamers have eaten up everything they've thrown out there for decades. So they tried to redesign, and it was rocky. Eventually they said we'll scrap it and start over. This time, it's been a few years since anything mmo related has come to market, players are looking for something new and hte only one offering it is SE. So instead of getting their 1.0 population to come back, they now have thousands upon thousands more, which they entirely didn't anticipate. Plus I'm sure they're being extremely budget conscious after all the money they lost on 1.0, so they surely didn't want to over-buy, they probably went where htey thought was 10-20% under, and would upgrade accordingly, only to get 50-60% over and had to upgrade significantly.
