So after level 15 or so the vendor in the main city no longer has the items I need (gold smithing) is there another vendor or is it straight farming or auction house purchases from here on out? Mainly I'm looking for mudstone, antelope horns etc.

Correct, vendors mostly only have the supplies to get you started in a craft. After that you have to collect your own materials or obtain them from other players.
