Is everyone really ok with the TOKEN FARM best in slot garbage?

Im so tired of playing the new generation of MMO where the actual act of killing the boss and the excitement of seeing watch drops isnt important anymore. NO, now i need to farm tokens and buy my gear from a vendor who sits in town and sells the best items in game.

WHAT IS THE LOGIC IN THAT?

If the lore is this super badass dungeon boss is so dangerous you need me and 7 other people to handle it, then why the hell do you want me to bring you this random pieces of currency in order to give me to tools to deal with the job?

I like the idea of tokens, dont get me wrong. Farming a dungeon for weeks to get nothing sucks, but it should be the consolation prize, NOT BEST IN SLOT!

If bahamaut comes out and all i have to look forward to is one more method of getting to my 300 cap, im out. I am not doing this for 2 months.

The best in slot should be dropped, not bought with currency.

So you would feel better killing the same boss 40 times and not get the drop at all because it went to someone else when it finally dropped on that 40th clearance run...?

i agree with op, just i never liked token systems at all, i always wanted gear to be drop or crafted.

I agree with the OP and Tanabe. Tokens seem to just be too common in games anymore and it's quite sad tbh. I miss the anticipation of bosses dropping specific boss loot and nothing being token based. It reminds me of the good ole Dire Maul West trinket runs for healers. It's just reminiscent to think how bosses had their own loot table.

I kinda doubt that coil of bahamut has no drops at all. Pretty sure that "BIS" stuff you are buying is the "I want to start raiding" gear.

Be silent. Raids have better gear than anything you can buy from the vendors, it just takes time. If you don't like it, go play WoW, oh wait, they have the same thing, wait a second, most of the MMOs out right now have a similar system.

I think there's room for both in endgame. I fail to see how drops going to certain people while the rest of the team go away with nothing is a good idea or builds incentive to continue with the content. I also strongly disagree with token gear being hand-me-downs compared to the drops unless the token gear is the standard and the drops are exceptional. The token gear should be what people need to progress and the drops should make progression easier and be prestigious (by stats and looks).

As an example, on my LNC I have the vendor bought set of Steel Scale Scalemail/Toadskin Leather. My spear is the Aetherial Steel Spear from Brayflox and other Aetherial Steel Scale Scalemail/Toadskin Leather drops in Brayflox. The vendor bought stuff is fine for progression but the aetherial is better and more prestigious.

I like the tokens as an alternative to the random chance, meaning my effort over 40 odd runs of an endgame battle isn't entirely wasted if I don't get what I want as a drop. But I don't particularly like them as the only option.

Sure, back in 1.0, I didnt really need my ifrit bow or wand/staff and I never got to get my spear as whenever it dropped the stupid thing went to a non-lancer. (Back in the days of loot being entirely random regardless of class.) But I'd deifnitely rather a mixture of the two as opposed to just one or the other.

But the point I'm making is, I've seen what purely random drops is like and it isn't the good way to go about loot. Tokens arn't much better, buuuut... From a lore standpoint, you don't think ifrit carries around weapons fashioned off of his body parts do you? I suppose maybe if he tempered weapons in a manner similar as he does his recruits....
