level requirements/activities (chocobos, travel ect)

hi all, ok so I know you can't get a chocobo mount till your at least least lvl 20 but for those who have no idea (like me), could someone please be so kind as to write a small list detailing what is required to unlock certain in game events such as a travel permit. its not clear anywhere online or in game as to what is required before being able to attempt travel or crafting (I do believe requires your level 10 quest from the guild of whatever class you chose at character creation screen, I could be wrong though). I feel this info would be extremely useful to newcomers.

Unfortunately I can't give you any details, but I'd recommend just playing the game and following the storyline. You'll unlock everything soon enough and the game will let you know when you did.

I think except for the chocobo companion system, which for some reason appears to be an optional level 30 quest in the middle of nowhere, everything was unlocked automatically though the main scenario for me.

everywhere seems to say the chocobo companion quest becomes available once you hit level 20 and are a member of a faction.... immortal flame for example, im unsure of this %100 however, hence my asking, theres only information on what to do, not when it can be done, for example you can join a leather craft, doesn't say you need to be a minimum level of 10 before you can attempt it.
anyhow sticking to the main questline seems to be the best bet thank you. more information on how to get a mount would be greatly appreciated though (level, location, requirments).

We would spoiler if you find it out that way. just follow the main quest and then when you have a GC from the mainquest just see, it will explain everything then :) location s revealed to you and it changes from GC to GC so noone can tell you wher eit is ^^

As you stated, once you reach lvl 10 with your primary class, you will be given access to the other class/profession guilds to join and level with. As Efrye said, it is done while following the main storyline and is made very clear to you when you can do so.

As for the chocobos.... please follow the main storyline quest until you get a quest called "Hero in the Making". You must also be part of a Grand Company (you can't miss this at all, the quest to choose will send you to the 3 main cities before you make your choice), and you will then get a quest called "My little chocobo" from your newly-chosen Grand Company commander. that's perfect Jerthil ^_^ and though it is nice to have the surprise Nura I also didn't want to miss out on anything fun, a lot of activities seem to become available through choice as appose to having them all thrown at you (its one of the main attractions to playing FFXIV), I simply didn't want to miss anything.
had a lot of people asking in game the same questions so figured id find out, without luck till now. Thank you all. Back to my main quest line then.

In order to get your Chocobo as a COMPANION (not Mount) you must be Level 30 and complete the quest in Camp Tranquil, then acquire Gyshal Greens (purchasable from most Merchant & Menders under the Tools option).
