So. Stuns on Ifrit (Hard).

PLD here. I was doing Ifrit (Hard) a couple of days ago. In my first group, I main tanked, and the group somehow didn't have the DPS to down the nails, causing everyone to give up after a few wipes. Second group I got was JP and I fell into the role of auto-attacking while focusing on stuns. (Shield bash is on the GCD.)

It's only my second time in the place, so I just started stunning everything I saw. Two wipes in, a lancer used auto-translate, asking me to only shield bash eruptions and ignore plumes. I didn't understand why, but I didn't try asking because I didn't know how they could answer that with auto-translator. So I just did my best to do as I was asked, but after a couple more wipes I was too quick on the draw once, and I stunned a radiant plume on accident. The lancer got pissed about it and quit, forcing everyone to go back to the duty finder for a new group.

I got through it with my third group, while main tanking AND stunning eruptions, but I can't help but wonder still... why is it bad to interrupt plumes?

Boss builds up immunity, using it 2 often makes it unreliable. Plumes are ez to avoid eruptions are a pain to avoid. Dont interrupt plumes.

Plumes are easy to see and avoid and the more stuns you throw at Ifrit, the faster he will become fully resisted to stuns. When that happens, you can't interrupt his eruptions or even plumes anymore due to resistance.

Awesome, thanks for that info. I had thought that something felt off, but chalked it up to latency issues at the time. Good to know the real reason for why ignoring plumes ended up making such a difference. Thanks. :)

Also, for each time you stun an eruption, you will see limit break bar fill by a huge amount, this is important before astral flow because this is how you will reach the lvl 3 LB before the nails pop, letting you use meteor on them.
