are thm/blm suppose to spam their aoe?

just a curious question as i have stated above. as a tank and healer, thm seems to be the class that causes the great annoyance because of how a lot of thm like to spam blizzard ii (i believe?).

i understand certain trash mobs sent out by the boss and in quests battles have low HP and are MEANT to be quickly dispatched by aoe abilities, but when it is a group of 3 or 4 normal mobs, these aoe 1) steal hate from the tank, forcing them to spam overpower/flash and 2) endanger the thm themselves.

Let them die they going to learn today lol Same thing with archer and they AoE and have the nerves to blame the tank and/or healer when they die all they have to do is watch they hate meter not hard at all.

Nope. Not unless the thm is confident they have a great tank who can hold aggro. Otherwise, they should stick to the target the tank is attacking

Sounds like you already know the answer. To be fair to them, everyone is still learning the game. I expect a lot of poor decisions like this being made for the foreseeable future.

I for one find the early days exciting *because* few people know what to do. It feels good seeing people try different things (and failing sometimes) rather than just be a follower on a trail someone blazed years beforehand.

I already have problems with this. ARCs and THMs in particular love to just NUKE the shit out of stuff with AoEs and it makes maintaining hate HARDER for me, because of the fact that flash spam is getting pricy and I'm worried about losing threat because I was using Fast+Riot to get it all back (Ethers have a nasty CD that makes maintaining MP a bish).

Yet surprisingly, I never have problems with melee DPS classes. They're surprisingly smart enough to NOT go batshit crazy with making my job harder. Wonder why this is the case?

Melee aoes are weaker compared to range aoes, thats why even though they aoe you can still hold the aggro

I guess the next three to four dungeons (Halatali/Totorak/Haukke/Brayflox) will probably serve to weed out the bad THMs/ARCs from the good. I also imagine that before long, someone else'll have to pull due to the fact that me pulling would earn my party a wipe.

Totorak and halatili are both easy.

Haukke and brayflox are both tank dependent so if these thms and arcs gets lucky and partied with a good tank, they wont improve that much. These two dungeons can be finished with crappy dps as long as the tank carries them

haukke is easy, we did it with 1 white mage 1 conjurer 1 summoner and 1 thaumaturge (and it even was a lot easier than when we went as a normal group with tank, 2 dps and a heal)

I'd say the next 2 instances are much worse
