Ran around quite of a few cities there and different areas... Griadana counted ruffly 200-250 people

1 gold spammer..

Ulda'h about 150-200 people afk in various parts of town and different questing areas where there is npc's

Limsa Lominsa about 250-300 people...


Your looking between 3 zones about 600-1000 afkers and yes 1 gold spammer at least the bot was playing ....

They seriously need to implement a afk kicking system... When 1/3 the server population is afk at any given time... Thats sad...

So...maybe 20% of the server population is comprised of AFK placeholders? And SE thinks this is a low priority fix? Nice.

Simply being afk is not a crime, and not every person that's AFK has been AFK for hours on end. Most are probably just people that had to go to the bathroom, wanted to grab a snack or a drink, or are searching the web for info on where they can find a certain item or how they can better improve their class.

I certainly wouldn't log out to poop considering I'd probably never get back in.

ya i get what your saying that's why i went around questing etc god i did alot of daily quest's and came back i only counted the people that didn't move 30-45+ mins at a time...

this is pretty much how it went when I counted a few days ago.

I think people fail to realize how capped the servers are (not "millions of slots") so they figure a few hundred isn't much, when really it is.



AFK kick would help tremendously
World Transfer off Congested to Others would relieve it as well
and finally
a temporary restriction of 1 character per account (to accurately gauge just how many people are playing, and how many made new toons and are not in use)

At least in a couple of days they'll all be force-logged!

the 10+ hour maintenance won't help it in the long run unless it has a Transfer system, afk Kick system, or other means to stop the build up. They only announced, officially, some major fixes and New Servers to fill up. This doesn't help Already-Congested servers at all - unless the fine details of the "major fixes" include the kickers/etc.

After the maint is over... it'll be a rush to log in - to stay in, 24/7. Just like now.

Lol its not MOST just running to the bathroom..you come back 2h later same crowd standing. So yeah I cant wait till they start kicking them. I am glad allot of people DONT afk to give others that paid just like them a chance to play

Still, they could be chatting to their FC or LS. Possibly waiting for the duty finder to put them into a dungeon.

Not trying to be difficult here, I'm just saying there are too many uncertainties in situations like this to make assumptions about people's actions (or lack thereof). I've seen a lot of people on these forums become livid over a bare surface analysis of situations, not bothering to peer deeper into other possibilities.
