Translation table?
Is there a list anywhere showing the JP/EN/DE/FR names for common terms such as "Limit Break", "Free Company" or "Tank"? I love reading all the non-English chatter and I like to try joining in directly where possible (without Auto Translate), but not knowing these terms can make some party play a bit more confusing (or quite) than it could be! Can anyone help out? Perhaps a dev? I mean if we can have a Roe dictionary about surely French, German and Japanese would be now problem! :D

Just bumping this in case anyone knows :)

Hi Kimimi, you could just ask me if I'm in-game, but here's a few sites that might help:
This is a JP to EN explanation list for 1.0, but it contains a lot of general useful terms in FF14:
http://ff14wiki.info/?MMORPG%E3%81%A...95%A5%E8%AA%9E
The wiki also lists some of the more common terms under auto-translate here:
http://ff14wiki.info/?%E5%AE%9A%E5%9...BE%9E%E6%9B%B8
As for specific terms:
Limit break is usually abbreviated as "LB" or just written as "リミットブレイク"
Free Company is "FC" or "フリーカンパニー”, usually shorted to "フリカン"
Grand Company is "GC" or "グラカン" for short.
Tank is "盾" (shield), healer is "ヒーラー” or rarely "回復", sometimes you'll just see shouts for "白魔(導師)" which is WHM or "学者" for SCH.
As for DPS, not all JPs are familiar with that term, the most common one is ”アタッカー"
Most of these terms are covered in the first link - if you have any other questions, drop me a tell when I'm not being Error 1017ed. :)

There used to be a communication thread, but I don't know if it's still around. Some important terms you will need to know if you party with Japanese players:
離席 (riseki - to leave the seat): AFK.
General positioning words:
敵(teki): Enemy
ボス: Boss
雑魚: Adds/Trash
中央 (chuuou) : Centre/middle
周り(mawari) : Border/outskirts
近づいて.../びったり...: (stem word) to be close to the target (just a useful word to know, if you see ない or ません attached, remember that's a negative)
離れて...: (stem word) keep your distance. Of course, both of these aren't that useful unless you know what the full sentence is saying.
範囲(han'i): Area of effect
タゲ取る: To grab the target (getting threat)
逃げて/下がって: Retreat
寝かせ...: (stem) To sleep something (e.g. with Repose)
You're a healer, so you might want to know these:
回復/癒す: To heal
エスナ/直す:Esuna/to recover (status ailments)
サイレス/沈黙(chinmoku): Silence
麻痺(mahi): Paralysis
石化(sekka): Petrified
スロウ: Slow
ヘヴィ: Heavy/Gravity
レイズ: Raise
プロ(テス): Protect
ストーンスキン: Stoneskin

Very much appreciated, thank you!
Can anyone chime in with German/French equivalents too?
