Just put it in Maintenance NOW

No idea who is working where and one what.

Just take it all down for maintenance. Work on it.

If a damn water pipe bursts at a water theme park with shit spewing everywhere you think they would let people to continue to ride on shitting rides. Take it down for maintenance.

I enjoy this game and I believe that they didn't foresee this happening but for the love of waffles just put it in maintenance and send out the message.

Hell if I was part of this IT team I would have forewarned that with holidays and other stuff coming up people would be attempting to login and create capacity issues.

I would have set the maintenance to start from today and take a day or two to sort it out. Least that way people may be a little disappointed but they would have come back being able to logon and not post a onslaught of messages about the connectivity problems we all have.

I will try again in a couple of days and hope things have calmed down and I can get back on to play.

Also if any mods do read this. What is the point of allowing idle players? I am not that far in and I only played 1.0; however, I come from an FFXI background and I remember people could setup themselves as a Bazaar? Is this possible in this game? If not them what is the reason for not having an idle timeout?

P.S. I have 6 people blacklisted for trying SPAM advertising of gold. Can you add a quick feature to add people into my blacklist, I don't know of one already where if I could right click their name and add to blacklist it doesn't come up when I do. But that would be handy.

I will try again on Wed to see how things fare or Thur; whenever the actual schedule maintenance is over.

Or, you know, restart the servers once a day to kick the majority of AFKers.

Daily scheduled maintenance for an hour a day to give the servers a break and kick the people who aren't actually playing.

Or, AFK kick feature implemented in the next patch (which isn't being implemented, only considered).

I agree nearly all other MMO's iv played have what is called DT to do daily maintenance and to clear all problems occurring it needs to be done so bad with this game so so badly

Cool I will remember that and give it a shot.

The maintenance involves hardware and I'm sure they'll want to do it right tomorrow. Just be patient. Technology has a load of overhead with all the bugs and issues you can have. I mean, the game just came out and they're giving us a few more free days to make up for it.

I think they are scared to put it all on maintenance mode now or everyday, cause they won't be able to start it up again with thousands of people logging in at the same time. Let's hope on Wed it will all get better :)

Or add a AFK kicker like most MMORPGs have. AFK for 30 minutes? Bam off you go mister/miss. I don't think you run any player runned shops in this game right? So there is no need people go AFK for 8 hours a day when they go to work/school/bed?

I worked for an ISP as a manager/Tech. Hardware isn't a big issue as long as your using solid proven equipment. Issues often stem from going with the latest greatest thing, good example if you guys are old enough to remember, Plug and play = plug and pray when it first came out.

I'm sure they may run into driver issues and such and are having to update the lobby servers to reflect the server pool, but they underestimated as others had stated server populations outside japan, I could touch on a variety of issues and suggestions for network and server improvement, bottlenecks in equipment and such but im going to crash.

7 12hr days in a row toasted me and I doubt SE is gona listen to what I have to say.

My main thing is coming from anIT background. Sometimes it is worth it to advise customers that it is going into maintenance to alleviate the expectation and create this chaos where everyone wants and demands they need to log in etc etc ...

They have had the whole of beta to try stress test this and I am sure they have a projects team that does an overview of the demand. I did a little of the beta play originally on PS3 and then decided to go for the PC version (just prefer it) but during the last week they seemed to send out most of their open beta invites out or it was the time at least most of my friends that still didn't have beta invites got theirs.

I blame their projects team not their development team. They had the opportunity to stress test this game on their equipment. But hey it's out there and it's only week 2, as far as I am concerned.

Can only go up from here... right?
