I get that the NA servers are terrible and need to be fixed.
But why not fix them when the least people play? Why take them down from 5PM PDT until 3AM PDT? Because Japan?
NA players should be entitled to more than 7 days play time. Compared to the JP players we're treated worse.
FFXIV it's a world wide game. Whatever time frame they choose, someone get screwed. Deal with it.
Because the data centre serves 3/4 of the worlds time zones. It's always prime time somewhere. If NA and EU were split it would be fairer, albeit more costly.
I spent 8 years on FF11 with maintenance during UK prime time because they were housed in Japan. It's only a day, it doesn't really matter.
