No, I actually started a thread about this because I really think this should be an option. As it stands you get sp based on your chocobo's rank number and seeing as the cost of each consecutive ability goes up by one, the only way you can reach the last trait in a talent tree is by going full force into it and speccing nowhere else. This is definitely undesirable because seeing as you want your companion to complement certain roles and to test out different styles it feels too unforgiving not to be able to reselect things =/.
It is somewhat odd. The game has the basic premise that we can make our characters able to fill any role at any time and have to negative effect from spreading out out skills. However, our chocobo only has the potential to fill one role.
I'm trying to figure out if I really want it to tank or heal because those roles shore up the shortcomings of so many classes... DPS isn't even on the board for me though.

but isnt it nice to make ur choco heal when u r tank or tank when u heal?
Later, with housing, there should be chocobo raising.
Maybe with chocobo raising we can train more than 1 chocobo?
Like 3 specialized chocobos and 1 hybrid chocobo
The ability to reset chocobo points would be a welcome change. I am disappointed with the threat generation of my tank chocobo. Even when I am doing crap dps as a SCH I manage to pull threat immediately off of him. If I could respec, I'd make him dps.
I really hope they give us a way to reset them, i would really love to use different chocobo specializations on different jobs
